Wonderful Tonight was written while Clapton was waiting on his wife to get ready. They were to attend a party that night. He wrote the song out of anger, telling Patty (his wife) she looked wonderful every time she put something different on. My favorite song EC wrote is "Tears in Heaven." It was dedicated to his son Conner who died from falling 49 stories from his mothers apartment window in New York.
